Robert G. Abboud is an acclaimed nuclear engineer, receiving his Bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and Masters’ from Northwestern University. His political career started in 2001 when Abboud began serving as a trustee for Barrington Hills.
He advanced from the position in 2005, earning himself the role of Barrington Hills village president. From then on, he was an executive member of the Barrington Area Council of Governments as well as the McHenry Council of Governments. He has always been passionate about ensuring the well-being of people in the region.
Abboud, in 2008, was the Democratic nominee for Illinois’s 16th congressional district of the United States House of Representatives. His opponent was a Republican, Donald A. Manzullo. Many thought Abboud was the right man for the job, but ultimately, he was unsuccessful in winning the general vote.
His career as president of the Barrington Hills village ended in 2013.
